Ford Ranger – Key Features and Price
The Ford Ranger is a powerful mid-size pickup truck known for its comfortable interiors and reliable performance. Its towing capacity of up to 3500kg makes it a good work truck. Like all modern vehicles, the Ford pickup truck also has various safety features that protect the driver and occupants on the road. The Ford Ranger also comes in various trims, so it can easily meet diverse buyer preferences and budgets.
Key features
1. Practical, sleek exterior design
With an updated front grille and C-Clamp LED headlamps, the new Ford Ranger now has an even more rugged exterior. LED tail lamps and an engraved “Ranger” logo at the rear add to its distinctive on-road presence.
2. Multiple engine configurations
Buyers may have diverse performance preferences while looking for a pickup truck. Some may want a reliable engine to tackle everyday tasks, while others may want something punchier. To meet these needs , the 2024 Ford Ranger variants come with three different engine options. The first is a 2.0-litre Single Turbo Diesel that can generate power of about 125kW with torque up to 405Nm.
3. Modern interior technology
An automobile today is incomplete without key conveniences that make long trips enjoyable and comfortable. Ford recognises this and equips its pickups, including the Ranger, with advanced tech. For instance, the Ranger’s Interactive SYNC® 4 communication and entertainment system allows for easy wireless smartphone integration and connection. This system is paired with a 10.1- or 12.1-inch touchscreen display based on the trim one chooses. Additionally, a 360-degree camera in the truck maximises on-road visibility by offering the driver bird’s eye top-down, 180-degree front, rear slit, front off-road, and rear trailer hitch views. The pickup truck is also integrated with a smart climate control system, which can quickly adjust the temperature in the cabin. This system also comes with zone sensors and rear vents to ensure optimal airflow for all truck occupants.
4. Versatile cargo bay
While the pickup has a short cargo bed, it has a payload capacity of about 820 kg. Additionally, the two clamp pockets at the rear help convert the tailgate into a workbench, making it multifunctional. The cargo area also comes with mounting points , which are protected by box capping, allowing one to quickly fit canopies and racks . The bay also has nine locations to let one secure tie-down cleats for securing cargo of up to 250 kg of loads. Additionally, wide bedliner ribs in the bed offer more space for gripping cargo. The rib width also makes it easier for one to kneel on the bed while securing cargo.
5. Safety features
The Ford Ranger does not compromise on safety. While the precise features can differ based on the variant, the truck comes with nine airbags, including side, knee, front, and full-length curtain, and far side driver front airbags. For smooth driver assistance, the pickup allows one to opt for a pre-set speed and automatically maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Additionally,  the truck’s lane-keeping system with edge detection and alert offers mild steering support to ensure the driver does not drift off the road onto other terrain. The truck also has a pre-collision assist with autonomous emergency braking that can warn drivers of collisions. This system can even take corrective action and apply the brakes when the driver does not. The safety system is also configured to avoid upcoming obstacles, detect cars or pedestrians behind the truck, and accordingly alert or apply brakes.
Another key Ford Ranger feature to consider is the Active Park Assist 2.0, which can control the steering, shifting, braking and acceleration while parallel or perpendicular parking. This makes it easier to park the vehicle, even in tight spots. Further, the Ranger’s Matrix LED headlamps can change the direction and intensity of the headlight to illuminate the area around corners and tweak the high beams when approaching other vehicles.
