While there are many types of planters, the easiest ones to make are the wooden planters.
Things you will need to build a wooden garden planter:
(rectangle planter)
Wood (teak, cedar, redwood, cypress, pine are commonly used for planter)
Buy the wood boards according to the size and design you have decided. Your planter will be open only from one side, and hence you will have wood boards on five sides. Since this is for a rectangle planter, you might need to cut them into the sizes you want.
Drilling machine
Screws
Measuring tape
Pencil marker
Hand or electric saw
Hammer
Nylon or vinyl screen
Sander or sandpaper
Paint, primer, furnish
Let’s get started.
Take the wood boards and mark your measurements using a measuring tape. Once marked, use the hand or electric saw to cut your wood board into pieces you require. If this is too much work for you, you can take help of the carpenters or request the shop owners to give them to you in sizes you require.
Once done, attaching of the wood boards begins. With a pencil, mark the holes you will be drilling in to attach a board to another with screws. This are the pilot holes. After the holes are drilled, attach the board with another and drill screws. You can also use screwdrivers to instead of the drilling machine. Start with the screwdriver and drill once the screws are half in.
Repeat this with all the sides till you have all five sides of your planter fastened. Now turn mouth of the planter on the ground so you have the base on the top. Drill some holes on the base of the planter for drainage.
After the drainage holes are drilled, turn the planter upright and place the nylon of vimyl screen on the inside of the planter. Make sure the screen is as per the size of the planter. Once place, use small nails to fixate them.
Finish the planter by sanding the rough edges and adding furnish on the outside. You can also paint the outer side of your planter as per your taste.
